Stanley-Boyd wrestling got underway for the fall season last week, with wrestlers heading to Black River Falls to compete at the Black River Falls Invite.
Stanley-Boyd took fifth place with 140.5 team points, a point that coach Greg Burzynski reflected on after the results were in.
We had a great first couple of rounds today,” Burzynski said. “We didn’t finish out the day strong though. These early tournaments help us figure out what we need it work on.” As to how things look moving forward, Burzynski was upbeat.
“We have a lot of hard-working kids,” he said. “We will continue to improve every day. If they continue to work the way they have so far this year, it will be exciting to see what they can do in February when tournament time rolls around.”
Regarding individual results for the day, here’s how Stanley-Boyd wrestlers fared at the end of the day: For the 120 pound weight class, Dale Sayles placed 6th and scored 9.0 team points.
For the 126 pound weight class, Justin Mc-Manus placed 3rd and score 19.0 team points.
Also for the 126 pound weight class, Max Conley (1-2) won by major decision (17-4) over Kuno Hanson of Black River Falls (0-2).
For the 132 pound weight class, Breckin Burzynski placed second and scored 24.0 team points.
For the 138 pound weight class, Troy Trevino placed fourth and scored 14.0 team points.
For the 145 pound weight class, Landon Hoel placed fourth and scored 14.0 team points.
For the 152 pound weight class, Aaron Sturm placed 3rd and scored 19.0 team points.
Also for the 152 pound weight class, Brody Westrom (2-9) won by fall (2:19) over Katelyn Nosbisch of Black River Falls (5-17).
For the 160 pound weight class, Chris Ruiz (0-2) competed against Blaine Primmer (6-1) of Viroqua and Tim Stock of Thorp (3-2).
For the 170 pound weight class, Dylan Seicher (7-24) competed against Anthony Di-Pietro (2-2) and Jack Klizer (0-2) of Viroqua, as well as Wyatt Moses (13-28) of Black River Falls.
For the 195 pound weight class, Caden Kopek placed fourth and scored 15.0 team points.
For the 220-pound weight class, Willy Graham placed 3rd and scored 19.0 team points.
For the 285 pound weight class, Damien Seichter (5-13) won by fall (2:27) over Carter Kouba of GET/Mel-Min (3-5).
The Orioles next compete Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Eau Claire North Invitational at Eau Claire North High School. Competition starts at 9 a.m.
