Stanley celebrates grand opening of its first off-leash dog park, ‘Echo's Playground’

The Stanley Community Association (SCA) proudly celebrated the grand opening of Echo's Playground, the city's very first off-leash dog park, marking an exciting new chapter for pet owners and their four-legged companions in the Stanley community.
The project became a reality thanks to the vision, dedication, and generosity of many individuals, families, and local businesses. Leading the effort was Roxie Caswell and her family through the Caswell, Reppert, and Willkom Family Foundation, whose commitment helped bring the long-awaited community amenity to life.
Construction of the park was made possible through numerous generous contributions. The chain-link fencing and gates were donated by Smith Restoration, Inc. Monetary donations were graciously provided by Jeff and Erika Koenig, Bob Mertens and Doris Durst, and Mike and Barb Spurbeck, along with their beloved four-legged family member, Rocky. Other donors that helped make this project possible were Kristin Norlien-Kim, Denise Madison, Ella Nitz and a thank you to the community members who attended the porch pot classes that were hosted at the Schneider family farm over the holiday season; which raised $1,800 going to fund necessary dog park installations like the fecal disposal system and donation box.
Rather than a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Stanley Community Association chose a celebration that was much more fitting for the occasion—a leash cutting. Roxie Caswell and Steve Millen officially opened the park by cutting the ceremonial leash, symbolizing the beginning of many years of safe, off-leash fun for local dogs.
Since the park proudly bears the name Echo's Playground, it was only appropriate that Echo, the lovable Golden Retriever belonging to Steve and Jessica Millen, became the very first dog to race through the gates and enjoy the park.
The Stanley Community Association also extends its sincere appreciation to Steve Millen of Lube Supply Company, who has generously volunteered to provide ongoing lawn care and maintenance for the park grounds, ensuring the space remains beautiful for visitors throughout the season.
Additional improvements are already planned for Echo's Playground. Benches, including several dedicated in honor of community members, will soon be installed, along with gravel at the park entrance to improve accessibility and reduce mud during wet conditions.
The park's signage was designed by members of the Stanley Community Association and professionally created and installed by Print Wisconsin, a local Stanley business owned by Connor Miller.
Echo's Playground will be open daily from dawn until dark and will remain open each year April 1 through November 1.
"This project is a wonderful example of what can happen when a community comes together," said members of the Stanley Community Association. "Echo's Playground represents not only a place for dogs to run and play, but also a lasting investment in the quality of life for families throughout our community."
The Stanley Community Association invites residents and visitors alike to bring their canine companions to enjoy Stanley's newest park and experience the many benefits of a safe, welcoming place where dogs can exercise, socialize, and play.
