Stanley Community Association Prepares for Upcoming City-Wide Thrift Sale

Posted

The Stanley Community Association (SCA) held a meeting on April 1st at City Hall to discuss plans for the annual City-Wide Thrift Sales, set for May 29th–31st. The event promises to be a fun and engaging way for residents to sell gently used items, and SCA organizers are encouraging participation from the community.
To sign up for the event, participants must complete the registration form that can be filled out online via a link on the SCA Facebook page or website, stanleycommunity.us. Additionally, participants can email their registration details to sca54768@gmail.com, mail them to SCA, PO Box 11, Stanley, or pick up a paper form at City Hall. If you are sending your registration by email or regular mail, be sure to include the following details: name, email address, the address of the sale, dates and times of the sale, and a description of the sale (up to 40 words).
A $10.00 fee is required that covers the cost of a sign, advertising, and map printing. Payments can be made via check or Venmo at @SCA54768.
The absolute deadline to sign up is May 15th to allow sufficient time for the maps to be created and printed. Make sure to get your registration forms in as early as possible!
Each registered sale will receive a bright neon Thrift Sale sign to place in their yard. The sign will feature a number that corresponds with their location on the sale map. Sign pickups will be available May 26th-28th at the Community Building in Chapman Park or by special arrangement by contacting the SCA and returned Friday, June 6th at City Hall. Please note that failure to return the sign by the deadline will result in a $5.00 fee which helps to cover the cost of replacing signs for future events.
The SCA is once again offering an opportunity for those who may not have a suitable location to host a sale. For just $10.00, community members can set up a mini sale in Chapman Park. This option is ideal for individuals who live outside of town, who don’t have space for a larger sale, or are affected by street and road construction. Sellers will need to bring their own tables and tents and set up at their own risk as the SCA is not responsible for the security of the items. Sellers are responsible for their own sales and must be present at all times.
Local businesses are also invited to participate by hosting sidewalk sales, special events, or other promotions during the City-Wide Thrift Sale. Sponsors will be featured on the map and described in the event listing on Facebook, with details about their sales or promotions. The fee for businesses to participate is $15.00, which includes sponsorship of the event.
Map and sale descriptions will be available for printing starting Wednesday, May 28th. You can access the map through the Stanley Community Association’s Facebook page, at Stanley IGA, or on their website at www.stanleycommunity.us.
