“We offered it to a gal from Withee, and she wasn’t going to leave her current job,” Stanley Personnel Committee head Kevin Hendrickson said of the City’s search for a new Administrator-Clerk-Treasurer in the wake of Donelle Spaulding’s resignation, effective December 11. The City of Stanley Personnel Committee met Friday December 3 in closed session after the budget hearing at the Stanley Fire Hall. Also present during the Committee’s closed session were the Mayor and several city aldermen, with the exceptions of Kent Barby and Laurie Foster, who were not in attendance on Friday.
With a last day of December 11, Spaulding was hired earlier this year to replace outgoing Administrator-Clerk-Treasurer Cynthianna Bergman, with the Council approving Spaulding’s resignation letter under ‘consent items’ on the December 7th Council agenda. Contained in the City packet, Spaulding’s letter was both concise and to the point.
“Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation as Administrator- Clerk-Treasurer at the City of Stanley,” Spaulding wrote in the letter dated for November 30. Thanking the city for giving her the opportunity to clerk, Spaulding said that she had decided the post wasn’t right for her and had decided to take a position with another company. “I will do what I can to make the transition effortless, including wrapping up my responsibilities and training other team members,” she wrote in her letter of resignation.
Despite Spaulding’s last day being December 11, however, City of Stanley employees need not worry about their paychecks getting processed on time, as longtime employee Shauntia Hale is still down at City Hall, and does the payroll, Hendrickson said.
“We have Shauntia, who normally does payroll anyway,” Hendrickson said as Personnel Committee head, being approved as such in the ‘consent items’ for December 7. Holly Kitchell was also appointed to serve on the Personnel Committee at the December 7 Council meeting, in a shake-up resulting from Mike Karlen’s recent resignation from the Council. Karlen gave other responsifetr bilities including his business as a reason for his resignation
