STANLEY POLICE REPORTS

March 21 2:46 a.m.

Police were requested in the 100 block of Barber Street for a suspicious activity complaint.

5:22 a.m.

Stanley Police assisted the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office with a car versus deer accident on State Highway 29.

11:34 a.m.

Stanley police responded to the report of a fire on the third floor of the Homeplace. On arrival police located the area on the third floor and assisted in removing someone from the smoke-filled room. Homeplace staff extinguished the fire quickly. Stanley Fire arrived and took control of the scene. The third floor was evacuated temporarily to allow the smoke to clear before residents were allowed to return. No injuries were sustained by staff or residents.

1:11 p.m.

Stanley Police responded to a crash on State Highway 29 westbound just west of the Stanley exit. Strong southerly wind gusts caused a trailer to overturn. The truck and trailer came to a stop blocking both lanes of State Highway 29 westbound. Breezy Acres responded and quickly removed the obstruction from the roadway. No injuries were sustained.

1:22 p.m.

Police responded to the Homeplace for a mental health complaint. Contact was made with staff and the person in question. Police, the Homeplace assistant director, and the patient all spoke with Northwest Connections. Northwest determined the patient did not meet the criteria for a chapter 51.5 emergency detention or chapter 55. 9:39 p.m.

Police were requested for a noise complaint at the Grant Street Apartments.

March 22 1:10 a.m.

Police investigated two suspicious males in the cemetery after hours.

7:52 a.m.

Stanley-Boyd School District reports a vehicle passing in a no-passing zone in the 900 block of North Franklin Street. As a result of viewing video from a school bus surveillance camera, Clare Lewallen, age 86, was cited for passing in a no-passing zone.

8:47 a.m.

Stanley Police were dispatched to a person lying on the ground on Oak Street. Report to follow. March 23 7:57 a.m.

Complaint involving a young person reported from the Stanley-Boyd High School.

9:48 a.m.

911 misdial. Officer responded to the 700 block of Madison Street and spoke to the caller and his wife, who stated that everything was fine and that the call had been accidental.

11:14 a.m.

Dog reported to be running loose in the road near 10th and Emery Street. Officer checked the area and did not locate a loose dog. 3:31 p.m.

Personal welfare check conducted.

5:13 p.m.

911 misdial at the Family Dollar. Officer spoke to the manager, who stated there was no emergency.

8:20 p.m.

Stanley Police requested to come to the 400 block of Grant Street. Citations were issued.

9:23 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested to the 200 block of

East Second Avenue for a domestic incident. 11:24 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested on Highway 29 for a white Impala that was traveling eastbound and possibly on fire. Nothing located.

March 24 9:15 a.m.

Stanley Officer Trey requested to assist the Bloomer Police Department with a detail at Bloomer Schools.

11:23 a.m.

Personal welfare check requested.

March 25 11:30 a.m.

Stanley Police were requested for a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of 1120 Pine Street, classed as a Stanley business. Vehicle was left with a flat tire. Message was left with owner of vehicle to have it removed.

11:49 a.m.

Vehicle stopped for a moving violation. Operator Amy M Brost, age 31, cited for speeding.

3:20 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested for a stray animal near the intersection of West Oak Street and South Broadway Street. Dog was collected and transported to municipal shop.

8:06 p.m.

Police were requested in relation to a gas skip at the Stanley Travel Stop.

March 26 1:35 a.m.

Police requested for a deer carcass in the roadway on State Highway 29. Carcass was removed.

March 27 2:09 a.m.

Stanley Police were requested to assist EMS with a 65-year-old male who was experiencing back pain. Assistance was provided until no longer needed.

3:40 a.m.

Stanley Police were called to the 500 block of East Maple Street for a possible stolen vehicle. The owner of the vehicle advised his mechanic may possibly have taken the vehicle and not yet returned it. Follow up to be conducted by the following shift. 8:42 a.m. EMS call in the 400 block of McKenzie Street for an elderly man who had fallen and was complaining of weakness in the legs. The man requested transport for evaluation. Officer assisted Boyd EMS until no longer needed.

1:12 p.m.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office advised the Stanley Police Department of a check person call regarding a man who was complaining of pain. The man’s adult sister was the caller and she was concerned that the man was possibly using drugs.

6:35 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested by Stanley Fire to adjust the stop sign located at the intersection of North Broadway and First Avenue. The sign was fixed.

6:46 p.m.

Stanley Police were called to assist the Clark County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic complaint on Highway 29 westbound. The vehicle was not located and the complaint was passed on to the Cadott Police.

7:21 p.m.

Stanley Police were called to the Stanley Fire Department to discuss a possible traffic complaint.

March 29 8:15 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested on Highway 29 for a traffic complaint involving a truck hauling a trailer driving erratically.

Officer was unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

8:39 p.m.

Stanley Police observed a vehicle driving westbound on Highway 29 with its hazard lights activated. Driver advised officer that she had struck a deer in the roadway in Clark County.

March 30 8:47 a.m.

A theft was reported with no address given in report. 2:35 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested to assist the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office regarding a check-person call in Boyd, Wisconsin.

Officer assisted with scene security while the Chippewa County deputy investigated the incident.

5:47 p.m.

Report received of a sex offense in progress. Report to follow.

6:55 p.m.

Stanley Police received a call from a young person in Ohio involving a possible missing person.

March 31 1:42 a.m.

A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for a speeding violation. As a result of the subsequent contact, Raul Gonzalez, age 21, was arrested for operating while under the influence (drug related), possession of THC, and speeding.

6:36 p.m.

Stanley Police were called to the 400 block of Grant Street for a report of harassment.

April 1 8:03 a.m.

Request to apprehend young person. Warrant arrest. No further details.

11:18 a.m.

Open 911 call at the school. Staff was advised and indicated that a student dialed by mistake.

2:10 p.m.

Tire debris removed from an unspecified location.

5:52 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested at the city shop on Pine Street for a found black/white male husky in the 900 block of Franklin Street, Stanley.

Officer took custody of the husky and approximately 30 minutes later the owner’s child paid the kennel fee and picked up their dog.

7:47 p.m.

A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for a registration violation. As a result of the subsequent contact, Sarah Buresh, age 32, was arrested for operating while under the influence (drug related), operating without insurance, possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

10:33 p.m.

Stanley Police were requested to Franklin Street for a possible noise complaint in the 700 block.

The complainant advised that the person’s house was empty and not on-going. Complainant did not want contact, therefore there was no need for an officer to respond.

10:43 p.m.

Stanley Police received a phone call for a civil issue at the American Pride Tavern in Stanley. Report taken.

April 2 5:35 a.m.

Stanley Police were requested on Highway 29 eastbound for an unknown sedan with unknown license plates that was swerving in traffic.

Officer was unable to locate vehicle swerving in the roadway.
