On Saturday, September 12, 2026, four Stanley locals took part in the 18th Annual Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing. This was the first time that each of them have crossed the bridge on their tractor’s. Ricky and Mary Thorson drove their 1957 John Deere 520, Dean Mahr drove his 1949 John Deere A, and Todd Wundrow drove his 1949 Farmall H. The route starts west of Mackinaw City, crosses the 5-mile Mackinac Bridge using the outside northbound lane, and continues through downtown St. Ignace to the Little Bear East Arena. The bridge remained open to regular traffic during the event. This year, 1,163 tractors crossed the Mighty Mac Bridge with drivers from seven states. Other festivities during the weekend of the crossing included Farmall vs John Deere tug-of-war, tractor games, kids’ pedal pull, and a cake and ice cream social. All four thoroughly enjoyed their time at this event and are looking forward to participating again.
