The Stanley Sportsman’s Club held its annual banquet Saturday, Sept. 28 at Holy Family Hall.
“There was probably 300 plus people,” John Smoczyk shared of the annual event.
With gun raffle tickets on sale from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m, and Boyd Catering providing chicken, attendees had a chance at 10 door prizes. The Tom Thornton family contributed to the gun raffle with proceeds going to Stanley’s K9 unit, while the wife and family of Randy LaGrander also contributed a gun to be raffled by in his memory.
With 32 tables filled at the banquet Sept. 28, the Sportsman’s Club works to improve sporting opportunities and pass on tradition in the Stanley area. Among the Club’s many contributions to the area are the Stanley Claybusters, a trap team open to kids aged 12 to 17, as well as providing money for the school archery team, overseen by Brandy and Tyler Pecha.
Coming to the areas in February is an annual ice fishing contest sponsored by the Stanley Sportsman’s Club, the Club also raising money for the park deer and contributing to the Community Center. The Club thanks Sportsman’s Club Banquet donors for helping make the annual event a success, with donors listed below:
