The Stanley Sportsman’s Club held their monthly meeting on January 8, 2025. The club discussed plans for a number of upcoming projects. Dave Oemig reported that deer are doing well at the Chapman Deer Park. The Club is entering into its 5th year of managing the deer park which is listed as a “licensed deer farm”. Being CWD free and with an up-to-date vaccination and testing program, the Club will now have permission to sell breeding stock from the herd.
The Club will be sponsoring their 19th Annual Chapman Lake Adult and Youth Fishing Contest. The event will take place on Saturday, February 15th, 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from Club members or at Oemig’s Sport Shop and Otter Lake Bait Store.
Due to recent public interest, plans are in the works to once again sponsor a summer fishing contest at Otter Lake to be held June 7th, 2025. More details will follow.
The Club will again be sponsoring a Youth Outdoor Expo to be held on Saturday April 5th, 2025. The event will be held at the Chapman Park Community Center. Watch for future notices for this event.
In further action, the Club will host a Certified DNR Hunter Safety Field Testing Day at Chapman Park. The event will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2025. More details will follow.
The next Stanley Sportsman’s Club Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 12th, 7:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall (Reclaimed Bar) on North Broadway. Anyone interested may attend.
