Stanley Sportsman's Club to Sponsor Youth Expo-Saturday, April 9, 2022 The Stanley Sportsman's Club is sponsoring a youth outdoor expo educational event for area youngsters in grades 3-8. The event will be held at Stanley's new Chapman Park Community Center on April 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Activities will be held within the center and also at the park.
A number of sessions will be presented with many providing hands on experience. Sessions will include:
• Archery – participants will have the opportunity for hands on target shooting practice.
• Bear/Coyote hunting – learn how dogs are utilized for hunting and tracking.
• Antler shed hunting – learn how dogs are used for the hobby of hunting for deer antler sheds. Migratory bird hunting learn techniques about duck and goose hunting, dog retrieval, camouflage and decoy use methods.
• Pheasants Forever – learn about the sport of pheasant hunting, pheasant stocking and habitat.
• Turkey hunting – observe how to hunt and call turkeys. Discuss history and characteristics of turkey hunting in Wisconsin.
• Furbearer trapping – observe various types of furs and also learn about traps and trapping techniques.
• Tree stand safety – discuss, observe and learn techniques for tree stand safety. Taxidermy learn and discuss methods of preserving your hunting and fishing trophies.
• Fishing – learn casting and spinning rod and reel techniques. Discussion on how to identify and fish for various species. Have an opportunity to participate in a casting contest to win prizes. Maple Syrup production watch the actual process of how maple syrup is produced. Real maple syrup will be served at the event.
Students will receive a free t-shirt and a light lunch. (Pancakes on a stick, ice cream, real ma – ple syrup and bottled water.) Deadline for sign up for the free t-shirt is Friday, March 18, 2022.
