The Stanley Movie Theater hosted free Halloween shows Saturday, Oct. 25, continuing a long tradition in the area.
Taking place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. respectively, the free movie showings of the Corpse Bride saw a good turnout, a costume contest was held after each showing.
With many contestants for each contest, entrants were divided by age group. The different groups were 0-3 years, four to six years, seven to eight years, nine to 11 years, and 12 or older, each competing for awards as funniest, scariest, and best costume entry in thier category.
Eslinger family members and theater employees provided the staffing and cleanup crew.
Later that night the theater hosted “Triumph of the Heart,” about St. Maximillian Kolbe of Poland. Free with a food pantry donation, “Triumph of the Heart” was presented by All Saints Parish, the Knights of Columbus Northern Agency, Field Agent Jason Bourget, and the Tommy and Dana Smith family.
As for future community movies this year, Zootopia 2 is planned for Thanksgiving this year, with the 58th annual free Christmas show set to be “David” from Angel Studios.
Committed to serving the community, Stanley Movie Theater is located at 131 North Broadway Street in Stanley. More is available at www.stanleymovietheater.com, or by phone at 715-644-5988.
