Summer Theater at Stanley-Boyd June 27

Stanley-Boyd hosted Summer Theater Friday, June 27 in the elementary gym. Stanley-Boyd faculty members Louella Derrico and Kayleigh Steinmetz each worked with students for approximately two weeks to put on the Summer Theater.
Starting at 8:30 a.m. with “Would You Hug A Cactus?” parents and community members were treated to a series of lyrical productions, including “Buttons,” “My fort,” “The clumsy kid,” “Magic words,” “Words are words,” “?!?!?!” (About not being ready), “Inside,” “White belt,” “Question Mark,” “I give my monsters ice cream,” “The grossest things that don’t exist,” and “Short and sweet,” described as “three poems under 40 seconds.” Each performance was preceded by a placard announcing its name.
Following the first act, an intermission of sorts took place at 9 a.m., a play called “Bounce” performed at 10 a.m.
Stanley-Boyd Drama Club advisor Kayleigh Steinmetz shared more on what Bounce is about.
“Bounce is about a young boy learning that everyone is special in their own way,” she said of this year’s play. “Each student is good at something, and as long as you are trying to figure out what that something is you are learning. Each student gets a chance to share their talent!”
Delighting the assembled audience members, the roughly half hour play followed a student named Reggie (Lincoln Standingtree) as he strives to find what he was good at, ending on a happy note as he and the other students learned to find their stride.
