Kimberly Goettl First Grade Teacher at Stanley-Boyd

For Stanley-Boyd alumna Kimberly Goettl coming home to teach first grade at the Stanley-Boyd Elementary school was like a family reunion. With her family dedicated to education, Goettl joins her brother, Sam, a technology education teacher, and sister-in-law, Kim, a middle school and high school art teacher, who both teach at Stanley-Boyd and unofficially have a hallway named after them. Goettl’s other brother, Ben is also a technology education teacher at Thorp High School. She mentioned how happy she was to come back home to Stanley. “I am very excited to be back in my hometown of Stanley and teaching for the Stanley-Boyd School District. I moved back here eight years ago and am excited to be back in the school community,” she comments.

After graduating from Stanley-Boyd High School, Goettl went on to UW- Stout in Menomonie, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Child Special Education. Though this is her first-year teaching first grade, she is a seasoned teacher with twelve years of experience under her belt, having previously taught Kindergarten and Third grade. “I am excited to be in first grade! I am enjoying the new learning as well as all of my students,” Goettl begins. “I cannot wait to see them grow over this year as my students.”

Goettl is one of the lucky ones that gets to go to work each day doing something she loves. She shares,“I always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. I had amazing educational influences in my life, and I could not see myself doing anything else.”

She explains that it was her own positive educational experience that directed her towards a career in education. “I have had many wonderful influences in my life as well as a positive educational experience that led me to become a teacher. I have a passion for children and helping them reach their full potential as learners.”

Her students inspire her daily. “There have been many students that have impacted me over the years in my teaching career. It brings joy to me to see all my students succeed,” she says. She remarks that the best part of being an elementary teacher is the students. “They are the best! It is so fun watching them learn and grow throughout the year.”

Being an elementary teacher, it’s only fitting that Goettl enjoys reading children’s books. Her favorite book to read is ‘There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly,” which her first grade class is sure to enjoy as well.

Goettl hopes that parents see that she is fully committed to her students. “I want parents to know that I will give 110% to every student in my classroom to support and guide the learning for their child as well as be a team partner with them and support them with their child’s learning at home as well.”

When she’s not in the classroom, Goettl stays busy gardening, kayaking, and spending quality time with family, friends, and her dog, Rueby. She loves a good home cooked meal, but she also enjoys her favorite Mexican meal at Cancun Mexican Grill.

When she attended Stanley-Boyd school, Goettl played volleyball, softball, and was a basketball cheerleader in high school.  She is a loyal fan of the Packers and Stanley-Boyd sports teams and continues to put her high school cheer talent to good use as she now cheers for her own family members that play.

Goettl is excited for where the future will lead her at Stanley-Boyd. “I am so excited to start the next journey in my educational career as a first-grade teacher. I am looking forward to working with my students and families in my classroom as well as becoming part of the educational community at Stanley-Boyd.

The Stanley-Boyd community is very lucky to have dedicated and caring teachers like Ms. Kimberly Goettl to show our children that learning can be fun and to guide them into a  future filled with numerous possibilities.
