On Saturday, August 3 at 11 a.m., members of the Curtiss Corners Quilt Club along with representatives from the Stanley Correctional Institution (SCI) will present the Clark County Foster Care Program with 24 quilts and stuffed teddy bears and critters at the Curtiss Community Center.
The community service project dates to June 2023, when plans began for a service project to benefit children in foster care within Clark County.
Since that time Curtiss Corners Quilt Club has been busy making quilts for the Clark County Foster Care program, partnering with the SCOPES program at SCI to include a teddy bear or stuffed critter with each quilt.
SCOPES (Stanley Correctional Outreach Program Equals Success) provides items such as blankets, afghans, hats, scarves, mittens, stuffed animals and paintings to donate to non-profit organizations. Each week over 100 men donate time and talent to handcraft items.
