Football starts with August 12 scrimmage against Spencer/Columbus

It's that time of year again. With school just weeks away and the first day of football practice on Monday August 1, Oriole football is set to kick ou with a varsity scrimmage August 12 at 10 a.m. against Spencer Columbus Catholic at Oriole Park, followed with a varsity game against Cadott at Oriole Park Friday August 19. Kickou for the August 19th game is 7 p.m.
As to the season more generally, head coach Jeu Koenig shared some thoughts as the football season prepares to get underway.
“ Our big focus each year is getting better,” Koenig said. “I can’t tell you what our record is going to be, but they’re fun to work with and just focused and getting better every game." With just five seniors this year, the team is young, Koenig said. Playing their final year at Stanley-Boyd as seniors are Lo – gan Burzynski, Grant Hatfield, Nick Ciszak, Aiden Mahr and Ben Millen. With 53 total players on the roster, 16 are freshmen, 19 are sophomores, and 13 are juniors.
Shifting from the team into game schedules, the season kicks ou with a scrimmage against Spencer Columbus at Oriole Park August 12 at 10 a.m.
Following the face-ou with Spencer, the first ovcial game of the season will be played against Cadott, also at Oriole Field on August 19. Game play starts at 7 p.m.
Following the game against Cadott August 19, the Oriole varsity heads to Marathon August 26, with Durand coming September 2. As to other sports at Stanley-Boyd, the Girls Varsity Golf Team has an invitational scueduled for Thursday August 11 at 10
a.m. Trapp River Golf Course, the first practice being Monday August 8.
