The railings are up, the big crane is gone, and little remains to be done at the 8th Avenue bridge site except backfill and road approaches before Stanley residents can once again cross the river.
Intermittent cloud cover and somewhat cold temperatures notwithstanding, the lights are on as far as construction goes at the Chapman Park Community Center. The Council met April 19 to discuss the arrival of long-term power on-site, along with feedback received from the published rental rates that they were ‘high.’ For more on that story, check back in next week’s edition.
Last but not least, the old beaver-themed fountain could soon be history, after COVID interrupted yearly water certification at the adjacent well just to the left, which also served the Boy Scout building, now no more at the site. Council resolution at the April 5 meeting was to discontinue water at the site but save the beaver, “if at all possible.”
