REPORT
Happy May, everyone! Welcome back to this monthly column where I share the news and updates from the library. The library board meets every second Tuesday of the month at 5PM. If you are unable to make it to the meeting, you can find the report I share with the board each month here. We had our spring cleaning sale at the library this past week and it was great to see the books and items we don’t need any more find happy new homes. Thank you to all who helped make our sale a success.
We are hiring, again! The library is seeking a Programs Coordinator with a focus on serving the youth. Tasks include organizing and presenting programs such as story-time, assisting patrons, outreach, preparing and implementing the summer program, and other duties as assigned by the director. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with kids to fill this part-time position. Applications may be found at stanleylibrary.org/jobs and submitted at the library or by email to [email protected] org before June 4th.
The meeting last week for those interested in joining the Friends group went really well. A few of the past members of the group came and several new people as well. We had a great and informative discussion about the history of the group and the future. The group has set another meeting for the election of officers, on June 7th.
Please contact the library if you are interested in joining the Friends group or hearing more about it.
The Emergency Broadband Benefit program sign-up starts this month! Starting May 12th, eligible households can enroll to receive a monthly discount of up to $50 off the cost of broadband service. Discounts off purchasing laptops, tablets, or desktop computers are also available.
Go to getemergencybroadband.org for more information and to sign up. If you would like any help signing up or have questions, call or stop in at the library.
Our summer learning program is just around the corner, starting June 1st! We are planning to have a hybrid summer program with both online and in-person programs. As they were well-received by both kids and adults last year, we are using Beanstack and Page Turner again for the summer learning program. Go to stanleylibrary.
beanstack.org to register early for the summer program, and check our Facebook for updates.
The library is open to the public 10AM-6PM, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Come on in to use the computers, find a book or movie, or use the printer. We are also open Tuesdays for curbside pick-up. This month we will be closed Monday, May 31st, for Memorial Day. Stay safe and we hope to see you at the library soon!
