THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT

Happy Summer everyone, and welcome back to this column where I share what you need to know about what is happening at the library. The library board meets every second Tuesday of the month at 5PM in the library. If you are unable to make it to the meeting, you can find the report I share of library news and updates with the board each month here.

Come to the library this Friday, July 16th at 3PM for an in-person visit with President Abraham Lincoln. Mr. Lincoln will share some of his favorite stories and jokes with a good dose of both the nation’s history and Mr. Lincoln’s personal story. All ages are welcome! We are so excited to present this event to the community as part of our Summer Learning Program, Tails and Tales, with the generous sponsorship of Mr. and Mrs. David Jankoski.

If you received the City of Stanley newsletter you may have noticed something a little different this month. Library staff created a short, 5-minute survey to gain input from community members regarding the library. We want to hear from as many people in the community as we can! If you didn’t get the survey, there are paper copies available at the library, or you can take it online at https:// survey.sogosurvey.com/r/Axocub. Thank you for your participation, and be sure that we always welcome your ideas and suggestions.

You might see a new face when you come to the library this month! We are so happy to announce that Joy Van De Loo has joined the library team as our new Programs and Youth Services Coordinator. Joy has a background in working with kids and in customer service. Check out our Facebook for more information about Joy and keep an eye out for upcoming programs.

The Friends of the D.R. Moon Memorial Library has new officers and is looking to expand membership. The Friends group is an advocacy- focused organization that represents the library in the community and supports library goals and efforts through volunteering. Thank you to all who have expressed interest in joining and serving as officers, your efforts are much appreciated! The next meeting will be at the library on August 2nd at 6PM. All are welcome to join the group and help the library reach more people in the community.

The library is open for you! Come visit us anytime from 10AM-6PM, Monday through Friday to use the computers, find a book or movie, or use the printer. We are also still offering curbside pick-up to those who wish to use that option and home delivery for rural, elderly, and at-risk patrons. Stay safe and we hope to see you at the library soon!
