The Library Director’s Report

Summer certainly feels like it’s here this week! Welcome back to this monthly column where I share the news and updates from the library. The library board meets every second Tuesday of the month at 5PM at the library. If you are unable to make it to the meeting, you can find the report I share with the board each month here.

Speaking of summer, our Summer Learning Program, Tails and Tales, is in full swing. The program is open to all ages; log your reading for a chance to win prizes! Registration is through our online platform again, at stanleylibrary.beanstack.org. We are also offering digital programs, featuring comedy shows, crafts, recipes, children’s book author interviews, guest performers, contests, games, and much more through Page Turner Adventures. Learn more at stanleylibrary. org/summer-program and, once you register, come to the library for a bag of goodies for the kids.

We have received two grants recently to expand outreach to the

elderly, homebound, and those in rural areas. One is through Mayo’s

Hometown Health Grant for $4,000 to purchase large print books

and deliver them to those in the community who are not able to

come to the library. The other is a $2,730 grant from the Community

Foundation of Chippewa County’s Response-Recovery-Rebuild Fund to purchase additional Wi-Fi hotspots and iPads for those with poor or limited digital access. This is the second grant we have received from the Community Foundation and we are so grateful for their continued generosity and support!

Have you ever wanted to work at a library? Do you enjoy working with kids, planning programs, and assisting families? Please consider applying for our new Programs Coordinator position with a focus on serving the youth. Library experience is preferred but not required

for this part-time position. Tasks include organizing and presenting programs such as story-time, assisting patrons, outreach, preparing and implementing the summer program, and other duties as assigned by the director. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual with experience working with the youth. Applications may

be found at stanleylibrary.org/jobs or at the library. Please submit the application at the library or by email to [email protected] before June 25th.

The library is open five days a week now! Come visit us anytime from 10AM-6PM, Monday through Friday to use the computers, find a book or movie, or use the printer. We are also still offering curbside pick-up to those who wish to use that option. Please note that we will be closed Monday, July 5th, for the July 4th weekend. Stay safe and we hope to see you at the library soon!
