The Library Director’s Report

Happy February everyone! I’m happy to welcome you back to this column where I report on the news items I share with the library board each month. The library board meets every second Tuesday and, if you are unable to attend our meetings, look no further for an update on what’s going on at the library recently.

In the past month, the library has received several generous grants from local organizations for our upcoming summer program. We received $500 from the Mary and Jerry Jacobson Family Fund through the Community Foundation of Chippewa County. We also received $200 from Forward Bank. It’s hard to believe it with the frigid weather we’ve been experiencing, but summer will be here before we know it! The library always begins preparing for the summer program in the dead of winter. We apply for grants like these, plan out the prizes and events of the summer, and use the year’s theme to tailor the focus of the program. As we are on the planning stages now, please let us know what you want to see for our learning program this summer!

If you are unable to make it to the library or know someone else who is in this situation, please be aware that our patrons can have library materials delivered directly to their doors through our delivery program. Many of the participants in this program have told us that they are so happy they can still receive library materials despite their circumstances. Please spread the word; we want all of our elderly, homebound, and at-risk community members to know that this resources is available to them. Also, if you are a homeschool family or part of a rural school, you are eligible to participate as well!
