On June 23, The Stanley -Boyd Drama Club performed a wonderful rendition of the children’s musical, The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever to the enjoyment of parents, summer school students and community members. The 45-minute musical is about a girl named Skyler who is celebrating her 12th birthday party when suddenly all the adults vanish. Trapped in the backyard the children start their own society when Skyler’s sister Charlie is elected as the new ruler and things begin to spin out of control. Eventually, the kids learn a big lesson in responsibility and respect for each other.
The summer school students worked hard to perform the play in just ten days with set design, lighting and sound all completed by Stanley-Boyd students under the direction of High School English teacher Kayleigh Steinmetz and Choir Director Louella Derrico. Their hard work and determination paid off as the students’ performance delighted the sizable audience. Quite a few chuckles were brought on by break out star, Thomas Smit, who reprised the role of Gale, who is locked in the bathroom. Audience members commented on the incredible abilities of the students to memorize so many lines and choreography in just a short amount of time. Great job, everyone!
