Turning out to celebrate Saturday July 6 at Chapman Park, staying for the fireworks afterward.
With 30 business sponsors and 90 volunteers helping put the day together, Tom Larson of Reclaimed Tavern was grateful.
“Never ever in my life would I have thought an event like that would be possible,” he shared. “Without the volunteers and sponsors we couldn’t have pulled it off.”
Larson estimated a turnout of 5,000.
“It had to be 5,000 including the fireworks,” he said of the day’s turnout.
Beginning with a 21-gun salute and Taps, the fireworks were set to soundtracks ranging from Star Wars and Indiana Jones to Frozen and Moana, the fireworks show was a sizable part of the event price tag, costing $25,000. With attendees jamming out to live music on the stage and a first annual barbeque contest kicking things off at 3 p.m., the third annual Independence Day Celebration was a success!
A total of 29 bikes as well as many raffle prizes were among the awards Saturday, made possible with help from generous sponsors.
Below are outtakes from the third annual Independence Day Celebration at Stanley. Check back next week for the list of prize winners.
