For thsoe seeking a new passport, Postmaster Christina Petranovich said that applicants would need some type of photo id, aloing with a birth certificate. As to the birth certificate, moreover, it has to be the certified state copy, which can be obtained from any courthouse in Wisconsin, whereas for other states it may be necessary to go to one’s county of birth for this, she said.
For minors seeking a pass to see the world, mom and dad will both have to sign off first and be present if the applicant is under 16 years of age. If it isn’t possible for one to be present, a notarized form can suffice.
For those with a prior world-class U.S. Passport to renew, the forms are available at the Post Office proper, while applicants will have to surrender their old passport in order to get a new one, sent through the mail.
