Town of Thorp approves land purchase for future town hall, sets prices for tire collection

Town of Thorp board members unanimously voted to purchase land from Richard Tobola for the future site of the new Town of Thorp town hall. Town Clerk Arlene Kodl remarked that the Chippewa County Department of Planning & Zoning agreed to survey the property by as early as the next week. She informed the Board that it was recommended that the town gets an engineer to help with the purchase process.

“You have to get it surveyed before you can buy land or anything. It has to be surveyed,” former chairman Louis Andruszkiewicz advised.

He added, “You have to have a description.”

“That’s the next step,” Jerry Jacks agreed. As the size of the land was discussed, Jacks commented that “four acres should be plenty” with the cost at $7,000 per acre.  The Board unanimously passed the motion to move forward with the surveying of the potential new land and the purchase of the new land.
