Trunk or Treat coming to Courtesy Ford Oct. 29

It’s Trick or Treat time, and with that in mind, the Stanley Community Association (SCA) is putting on its second annual Trunk or Treat event Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m to Noon.

The event, which debuted last year out at Courtesy, will take place once again on the frontage road near Courtesy. Over 30 organizations and businesses are signed up to have a trunk filled with treats, making this free event one the whole family can enjoy. SCA President Kristi Weiland had more to say on the Trunk or Treat plans when reached by email.

“There are over 30 organizations and businesses that have signed up to have a trunk,” she wrote. “ They decorate their vehicle and hand out candy to the kids who will hopefully come in their Halloween costumes. The Stanley FFA will be selling concessions and the Stanley Student Council will be doing games. This year there is a free school bus shuttle from the high school parking lot to and from the event. There will be parking on just one side of the road near the event, to prevent the congestion issue we had last year. Any organization or business interested in doing a trunk can sign up at stanleycommunity.us under events in the menu.”

Weiland went on to say that people could “make a day of it” by stopping at the Stanley Theater for the annual free Halloween Movie, showing at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. respectively. This year’s showing is ‘Bad Guys.” That’s not all though.

“They also have a kids costume contest and are giving out a Halloween gift,” she said of the theater show. Stock up on free candy out by Courtesy, follow it up with a free movie later in the day.
