‘Reclaim the Magic’ Christmas event arrives Sunday

Posted

Reclaim the Magic is returning to Stanley soon.
The annual event put on by Tom Larson of Reclaimed Tavern and area volunteers is coming to the Chapman Park Community Center on Sunday, Dec. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m., complete with sleigh rides, a visit from Santa and picture opportunities, as well as gifts and refreshments. Attendees to the event in Chapman Park will be able to sip rich hot chocolate and enjoy fresh baked cookies made by volunteers, as well as have a chance to get their picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Clause and share a wish list.
Also in view is volunteer help, a total of around 30 volunteers helping with gift wrapping and the evening itself. Free gifts for ages 14 and under will be provided for the first 275 kids, with 40 to 45 movie passes for older kids.
“It’s for anybody,” Larson said of the event meant to provide gifts to those in need as well as a family moment to others. The event is financed in part from sales and donations at Reclaimed Tavern, with 25 cents of every purchase going towards the event. Larson said between sales and donations he has $4,000 invested in ‘Reclaim the Magic.’
Rumor meanwhile has it that the Grinch is out and about.
“There’s a rumor the Grinch has been spotted in the Stanley area,” he said, “I’ve heard this from several people and we have to keep an eye out for him.”
With few other details on the Grinch but gifts and hot chocolate waiting for event attendees, ‘Reclaim the Magic’ returns to Stanley Sunday, Dec. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Chapman Park Community Center in Chapman Park.
