The city of Stanley is looking for a new wastewater treatment plant operator. The ad, posted on page 3 this week, comes after the council voted to terminate former operator Nick Martin at the Jan. 5 council meeting, giving “job abandonment” as the reason. Martin came to Stanley from Thorp.
Successful applicants for the wastewater treatment plant operator position must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, as well as a Class B CDL or ability to obtain one within one year. Wage for the wastewater operator position starts at $28 per hour and can increase based on qualifications. The job includes a fringe benefits package, with the successful candidate required to work a scheduled weekend and holiday rotation with paid overtime.
Candidates should have knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater plant systems, machinery, and equipment, and either have a WI DNR Basic Wastewater Operator Certification or the ability to obtain one within three years, as well as work towards a basic water operator certification through employment with the city.
Applications for the job to start at $28 per hour can be found on the city website at www.ci.stanley.wi.gov as well as at city hall, located at 353 South Broadway in Stanley. Applications can also be obtained via email to the city clerk at clerk@ci.stanley.wi.gov.
All applications and related materials for the wastewater operator position must be received by noon on Friday, January 23, 2026.
