For seven weeks this summer, students in grades 4 through 12 gathered every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 a.m. to participate in the Summer Running Club. The program had engagement from 38 students throughout the summer. While many of the participants are members of the school’s cross-country team, a few students from other sports joined the club to improve their endurance and overall conditioning. The early morning sessions focused on building aerobic fitness, developing healthy habits, and creating a supportive environment for runners of all ages and ability levels.
In cross-country there are many sayings like” summer miles bring fall smiles” or “state qualifiers are made in the summer” emphasizing the importance of putting in the work during the offseason. Building a strong foundation during the summer often leads to greater success during the competitive season. To see these dedicated student athletes in action, you can attend the home cross country meet on Thursday, September 10, at the school.
