The Orioles took on Cadott at Oriole Park Friday, Aug. 28, coming away with a 40-7 loss.
Cadott took first score, following a first quarter touchdown with a two point conversion to bring the score 8-0 Cadott, before a touchdown by touchdown by Max Acker and field goal by Jesse Allard brought evened things somewhat to 8-7. Despite this Cadott continued to deliver a series of touchdown two point conversions to bring the score 40-7 by game end.
Coach Brody Mahr shared more after the final score.
“I thought we played some really good football at times Friday night, but once again we hurt ourselves with turnovers and costly mistakes,” he said. “Give Cadott credit, they took advantage of those opportunities.
“There were still a lot of positives on film. We have a lot of young guys playing important roles right now, and you can see them getting better each week. When we execute and do our jobs, we’ve shown we can play pretty good football on both sides of the ball.
“For us, it comes down to consistency. We have to take care of the football, eliminate the self-inflicted mistakes and put four quarters together. The good thing is a lot of what is hurting us is correctable. Our kids are working hard, and we just need to keep improving and learning how to finish.”
The Orioles now play Durand-Arkansaw Friday, Sept. 4 at Durand-Arkansaw High School. Game start is 7 p.m.
