A UTV through the ice has resulted in medical transport at Holcombe.
Jason Steen, age 59 of Holcombe, was transported after the UTV he was operating fell through a weak area of the ice Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. Steen’s UTV landed on a submerged ice shelf and was partially submerged approximately three feet below the surface, the upper portion out of the water.
Responding agendas to the incident included the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Cornell Fire, Cornell EMS, Chippewa Fire District, and Mayo Helicopter.
Steen was the UTV’s only occupant and recovering at home. The UTV was later removed from the water, the Sheriff’s Office asking people to use caution on area waterways.
