Close but not quite there yet. That’s the consensus after Stanley-Boyd fell to the Crickets Friday at Oriole Park, 25 – 19.
The game preceded by a slight downpour, was still drizzling as things got underway at 7 p.m., with fans decked out in rain gear and holding umbrellas on both sides. With Fall Creek making the first touchdown a field goal from Si mon Polman and a touchdown with successful point conversion brought the board score 11-7 with 5:43 left to go in the second quarter, the score reversed with another Cricket touchdown to read 13-11 at half time. By the time things ended, the Crickets had made the win 25 – 19. Oriole head football coach Jeff Koenig shared some thoughts on how it went after the game.
“I was very proud of how hard the boys fought Friday night,” Coach Koenig said. “The offense was able to keep things going and the defense played well. Unfortunately, we are still making too many mistakes and we have to keep improving.”
The Orioles play Friday against Mondovi in an away game. Kickoff for the game at Mondovi is at 7 p.m.
