“The course was showing its teeth that day, and it certainly gobbled us up.” That’s how girls golf head coach Devon Wenndt described the Whitetail Invite September 6. With senior Emme Felmlee taking sixth place despite a poor putting day, the overall team score was 209 for nine holes golf, with Felmlee taking a 45, the best for the day.
As to Osseo, on September 12, things went a little better, as Coach Wenndt shared.
“Better showing in Osseo,” he said. Again, scores aren’t maybe where we quite want them to be yet, but we did some things more consistently. The biggest challenge at Osseo is always figuring out those tricky greens. Every one of them has more slope than it seems. It was nice to bounce back a little bit, however, after a rough day last week. Kylie Weiland was out sick, so we hope to see her back soon.”
With the Orioles taking in Valley Golf at Mondovi Wednesday and the front 9 at Whispering Pines Thursday, the Oriole “We take on the elevation changes of Valley Golf in Mondovi tomorrow, then it’s back to Whispering Pines on Thursday,” he said on Tuesday. “Here’s hoping we can get some of those scores down a bit.”
