One person is injured after a school bus accident at the intersection of Fernwall Avenue and Cloverdale Road in the township of Worden.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of the crash at about 4:09 p.m., on Monday February 10, 2025. Initial investigation indicates that a school bus was traveling west on Cloverdale Road and entered the intersection at Fernwall Ave. As the bus entered the intersection it struck a Jeep on its driver side as it was traveling south on Fernwall Ave.
“They were from the Stanley School District,” Clark County Chief Deputy James Hirsch said. “I was told school officials were also on scene.”
Stanley-Boyd Superintendent Jeff Koenig confirmed it was a Stanley-Boyd bus.
“Yes, it was a Stanley-Boyd bus,” he said late Monday. “The students were transported home on a different bus and the parents of the students involved were contacted by phone.”
Regarding the accident details, the bus continued west and stopped on Cloverdale Road. The Jeep came to rest in the Southwest ditch at the intersection.
The bus had eight students inside it with one adult driver. No one on the bus was injured.
The Jeep had one passenger that sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire. The students were taken home by another school bus that arrived at the scene.
The Thorp Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation of the crash is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The names of the drivers and students riding the bus are not being released at this time.
The school bus driver failed to yield at the yield sign at the intersection.
