April 1st marked the celebration of long time Stanley area and Boyd resident, Vi Mahr’s 95th birthday. To start the day, Vi, surrounded by her children and sister, was greeted by the Village of Boyd officials and friends.
Leading the drive by parade was Stanley Police Chief Lance Weiland. Village of Boyd Mayor Bob Geist presented Vi with a wonderful congratulations letter from the Village of Boyd Board of Trustees and Employees. Ele’s flowers delivered bouquets and balloons. The parade brought greetings from All Saints Parish Deacon Willkom. Many cars followed with family and friends bring honks, waves, cards, gifts and stopping to give Vi hugs. Closing the parade was a John Deere tractor driven by Vi’s grandson and a friend symbolizing the many years of farming in Vi’s history.
The festivities continued at a family luncheon at the home of Kay and Tim Mahr. Vi was treated to a cake with 95 candles! To close the week a special intentioned Mass for the deceased members of Vi’s family was celebrated by Father Felix at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cadott.
