With conference meet approaching at the Lake Wissota Golf Course Oct. 14 at 10 a.m., the Oriole boys and girls cross country teams took to Thorp Oct. 5, competing at a course off Fisher Avenue.
Stanley-Boyd finished with three of its boys running in the top ten, Lucas Walker taking first with a time of 17:36.0, while Zach Haas took fourth wrote a time of 18:14.7. Breckin Burzynski took seventh with a time of 18:38.5.

As to the girls race, both runners for Stanley-Boyd made the top ten, with Lucy Wundrow taking fourth with a time of 23:02. 8 paced at 7:25 per mile while Addison Mahr took tenth with a time of 25:00.5, paced at 8:18 per mile. Orioles head Coach Nick Mahr shared his thoughts after times were official.
“It was a small race,” Mahr said. “Our performances were mixed. It’s nice to see Lucas Walker win the boys race, but he didn’t have the competition we have had at other races. This is the first time, in recent history at least, that Thorp has hosted a cross country race, so we definitely wanted to be a part of their first meet. It’s a nice course and we plan to keep coming back. We are getting ready for our conference and sectional races now.”
The conference meet arrives Oct. 14.
