New water rates are in for Boyd, following review by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC).
Approved unanimously with Resolution 2025-04 after application to the PSC in November, the new rates mean a Boyd residential customer with a 5/8 or 3/4 inch water meter can expect a $10.41 meter service charge, up from $10 previously. A one inch meter connection will have a $20.82 meter service charge while a two inch meter charge will be $54.13. Also new, the water volume rate per thousand gallons is rising to $6.19, or 24 cents more than is previous.
Approved by the board March 10, the new water service rates will help pay for water operating expenses. The last water increase was made seven years ago, on April 17, 2018.
As for Sewer at Boyd, the rate is staying as is at $32, last increased in 2024. The sewer volume rate per thousand gallons is also staying the same as at present at $11.30.
Effective as of April 17, residents can expect their first bill with the new meter service rates to arrive in May.
Also from the March 10 board meeting, Bob LaMarche gave the Streets and Utilities update.
“I think first off I want to thank Tony,” LaMarche said of Tony Peterson, who filled in as LaMarche while the Streets and Utilities head was on medical leave. “I appreciate how good a job he did.” Also helping with work while LaMarche was away was Tony’s dad, helping with snow hauling after a snowstorm.
As for the wastewater plant, LaMarche said that oxygen sensors in the tank needed work, the sensors allowing for optimal wastewater tank conditions. LaMarche also said he thought the village should pursue getting wires pulled through underground, the work delayed due to ground freeze after coming in last year at $17,350 for a base estimate, with LaMarche expecting a $25,000 end cost with an electrician.
Boyd village board meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Boyd Village Hall. The public is invited.
