After a year hiatus, it’s back! The 9th ever Stanley Lion’s Club Watermelon Fest 5k Run/ Walk will be held this year at Chapman Park in Stanley on Sunday, July 25th starting at 9am. This annual run/walk is held in coordination with the 47th annual Stanley Lion’s Club Watermelon Festival. The 3.1 mile course goes over the new 8th Street bridge. Registration starts at 7:30am at Chapman Park in the new community building. Pre-registration is $20 and day of registration $25. All proceeds support local, state and international Lion’s Club projects. All participants will receive Running Watermelon socks. Overall male and female winners receive Watermelon Fest running guy or gal bobble head awards and all division winners receive a fresh chilled watermelon. Following the run/walk there will be a free 400-yard kid’s run starting at 10:15am. Come support the Stanley Lion’s Club and celebrate 47 years of seed spitt-n’-fun!
