Why am I running for this position?

There are several reasons that I am seeking this post. My background is in education and I want to help make Stanley-Boyd Schools the best they can be. I spent six years teaching and another six as a librarian. I want these kids to have a life-long love of learning, and teachers that can help make that happen. I have no current ties with the school, no close relatives or friends on the staff and I think that makes me better equipped to make cuts when needed and make decisions that are fair to students, teachers, administration, and residents. I want this district to provide quality instruction and still allow the taxpayers some money left in their pockets. I believe there are ways to provide instruction without necessarily breaking the bank.

What sets me apart from my opponent?

First of all, my background is in education. Sitting on the School Board, I think there is great benefit to having been in the classroom and knowing firsthand the work teachers do to impart knowledge and love of learning to their students. I think that will make a big difference in how I look at things. In conclusion, I will try my best to listen to the community wants and needs. I will strive to make sure everybody that would like to have a chance to speak at school board meetings gets the opportunity to do so and will be listened to respectfully. I want to know what the people of Stanley and Boyd are thinking so that I can represent what it is that YOU want from the schools in the district. I will make sure I am accessible to those that want to express concerns, or praise the school. You will have my ear.
