Winter Wonderland is now open in Chapman Park Campground.
Started in 2020, the annual display lights up Chapman Park Campground during the holidays. Stanley-Boyd NHS Advisor Kimberly Halterman shared more on this year’s decorations.
“We are planning on lighting the Winter Wonderland for the first time on Thursday night,” she said last week. “Right now, we are working on connecting everything to power sources and setting the timers. The snow and cold have made it challenging to work outside for long periods. Fortunately, we were able to get the stakes in the ground before it was too frozen. While we would have liked to have the park lit by December 1st, the late YSL Day (which is usually our kickoff), along with Thanksgiving Break, pushed the lighting date to this week. If everything goes according to plan, the lights can soon be admired at the park.
“While the Stanley-Boyd chapter of the NHS is finishing the Christmas lights, the groundwork was completed by 40 Stanley-Boyd students during YSL Day. I am very proud of the hard work and creativity these students demonstrated - NHS and YSL Day students alike. A special thank you goes to staff members Sam Goettl, Willem Clifford, Grace Horn, and Devon Wenndt, who supported our students that day. Without their dedication and ingenuity, this project would not have been possible.”
There will not be an official grand opening this year.
