In an interview with Superintendent Jeff Koenig Saturday, he talked about how – so far – the district had eluded having a COVID-19 case in its hallways.
That changed, with a letter being sent home to families Sunday.
Koenig informed parents that they’d received notification that someone who was at the school had tested positive for COVID-19, and he forwarded a letter from Chippewa County Public Health Director Anegla Weidman.
It stated, “An individual at your student’s school has tested postiive for COVID-19, via laboratory diagnostic test. The children and staff who interacted closely with the individual during school or extracurricular activities have been contaced by the Health Department. The individual who has tested postive will be excluded from school until they have been determined to be no longer infectious. Close contacts (those who were within six feet of the individual for greater than 15 minutes during the infectious period) of the individual will be excluded from school for 14 days past the date of last exposure and will be monitored for symptoms by their parents/guardians.”
With mask mandates, hand sanitizing stations, social distancing and a schedule where only half the middle and high school students are in school at a time, it’s just a sign of the district having to do what needed to be done to allow for
