Competing in a duals against Regis and Cadott last week, the Oriole wrestling team headed to Chippewa Falls Saturday, Jan. 14 for the Chippewa Falls Invitational. When things had settled, Stanley-Boyd had placed 67th of 13, with 180.5 total points. Head coach Greg Burzynski shared his thoughts on how things went, first against Regis and Cadott, then at Chippewa Falls.
Regarding the Regis dual, Burzynski said that, “I thought we wrestled well against Regis. We had some pins I was not expecting that kept us in that dual. We just gave up too many pins. If one of those matches where we got pinned goes the other way, we win that dual. We also gave them 12 points in forfeits.”
As to Cadott, it didn’t go so well. “We did not match up as well against Cadott,” Burzynski said. “In my opinion, they are the top team in the conference and they showed why in that dual. We gave up five pins in that daul which is hard to come back from.”
As to the Chippewa Falls Invitational, Burzynski had the following to say.
“Breckin was second at 132,” he said of Breckin Burzynski. “He had a pretty good day overall. Obviously, you are never satisfied with a loss, but it shows where we need to improve. He just needs to learn from it.” Burzynski also had a good word for Landon Hoel as well.
“Landen was also second. I am happy for him. His confidence level seems to finally be where it should be. He just needs to finish the season wrestling the way he did here.”
