Coach Burzynski reflects on performance from Saturday
Heading to wrestling in individual wrestling at Amery High School this Saturday at 10 a.m., Orioles head coach Greg Burzynski reflected on how things went at Neillsville Feb. 11, the first postseason wrestling matchup.
“Breckin Burzynski wrestled a decent tournament,” the coach said. “He made two mistakes for the weekend: one in the finals for five points, one in the true second- place match for four points. He ended up losing the finals match by three and the true second match by one. If we clean those things up, we win those matches. Breckin was third.”
Willy Graham had a good day. He scared us a little in the semis, but fought off of his back and ended up pinning the Abby-Colby kid. He ended up second on the day. He continues to wrestle well.
Both of the boys will compete in sectionals at Amery Saturday for a chance to compete in the state tournament. Wrestling starts at 10.
We also had four seniors end their careers as an Oriole: John Burgoyen-Mellor, Justin McManus, Dale Sayles, and Caden Koepl. We are grateful for the time we had with them and wish them the best in their future!”
