With much excitement and gratitude, the Stanley Community Association, SCA, would like to share that Aspirus Health has become a Playground Pal with a $25,000 donation to
the Play Big, Dream Bigger playground project. “We are proud to support the Stanley Community Association’s
Play Big, Dream Bigger project at Chapman Park,” said Anne
Sadowska, Chief Administrative Officer, Aspirus Wisconsin Northwest Division. “Investing in spaces that bring families together and encourage healthy, active lifestyles reflects
our mission to heal people, promote health and strengthen communities. We are honored to help create a lasting community asset that will benefit Stanley area children and
families for years to come.”
This donation brings the fund up to $150,000, including in kind donations. The SCA is focusing on phase one of the playground/splash pad project which is the playground
portion. $350,000 is needed to start this phase.
Unlike the current playground, this project includes a poured in place ground covering that makes the area accessible for
people who use mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers and there will be equipment appropriate for
toddlers to preteens. It will be conveniently located across
from the community building, for closer monitoring of children during Stanley’s popular summer events, and be a draw for community center rentals.
Kristi Weiland, SCA President, explains “The financial support from the community means so much to us. Being a 501c3, we are eligible for grants but are unlikely to be
awarded them without being able to show a decent amount of that support from the community.” The SCA continues to look for more individuals, businesses, or groups that want to become Playground Pals. Donors over $1000 will get their name on the donor board at the playground. Name size increases with the higher donation levels. Naming
rights for the playground portion are available for a $200,000 donation, the amount still needed to start this project. If you are interested in being a part of this exciting addition
to Stanley, you can mail a check to SCA, PO Box 11, Stanley, WI or email sca54768@gmail.com for more details. Donations are tax deductible.
