Traditions Assisted Living in Thorp is hoping to make this Valentine’s Day a memorable one for its fifteen residents. Staff has installed a mailbox at the front of the building inviting community members to send cards to “shower the residents with love” on February 14th. The residents will open the cards at their party on Valentine’s Day. Jason Hazuga, owner and director of Traditions Assisted Living, says that Valentine’s Day can be hard day for some of the residents who have been without their spouse for many years. By collecting the cards, he hopes “to try to make it a bright day and let them have something positive to focus on instead of sad memories.” He adds, “I’m hoping the mailbox gets plumb full.” Hazuga, who opened the facility in 2009, shares that the residents are excited to see all the cards and letters come in.
Anyone wishing to bring cards, letters or colored pictures can drop them off at the mailbox at Traditions Assisted Living by February 13th. Cards and letters can also be mailed to: Traditions Assisted Living 418 East Stanley Street in Thorp. A list of the names of the tenants to address the cards are as follows: Ella, Margie, Loretta, Randy, Florence, Lucetta, Ray, Pauline, Mary, Esther, Shirley, Donny, Joan, Ken, and Bev.
