At their October 14 meeting, members of the Clark County Board approved the borrowing of $8 million to upgrade County Highway Department facilities in Owen, Loyal and Neillsville. The debt will cover replacement of some old buildings, as well as updates. The plan includes moving the main highway de- partment office/shop from Neillsville to Loyal, with the goal to increase efficiencies by having a central hub for highway department operations. +++ The Greenwood School Board has approved the expenditure of $86,000 for new bleachers in the middle/high school gym.
Tri-County – Area Times
Three championship teams in the Tri-County Area include the Augusta football team, who are undisputed Dairyland Conference Champions with a 9-0 regular season record. The Fall Creek volleyball team are Western Cloverbelt Champions and also the overall Cloverbelt Conference Champions, after beat- ing Marshfield Columbus 3-2. And the Augusta Girls Cross Country Team won the school’s first ever championship in the sport, after taking first place in the Dairyland Conference.+++ The Osseo Rural Fire Department held their annual Fall Fest inside the new fire hall in Osseo. The huge fire hall provided space for young kids to play in blowups and the older folks to dance to the music of the Rhythm Playboys.
Trempealeau County Times
The Trempealeau County Board has voted to give employees at least a two percent raise. A review of the county’s job classifications, and wage increases, could add $413,000 to the county’s payroll. The county had not done a wage study for 10 years and is moving to get employees to market rates as quickly as possible. +++ The Independence Lions Club recently celebrated its 70th Anniversary. The over 50 member club performs/participates in approximately 30 projects annually.
