Though construction is underway at the D.R. Moon Memorial Library, the upstairs was transformed into a fairytale setting for a special Royal Story Time event on August 5th. With the children’s section temporarily closed during the building’s renovation, Miss Stanley Sydney Haas led the gathering upstairs, joined by Princesses Lillie Smith and Vivianne Sikora. Inside, children, dressed as princes and princesses, enjoyed crafting stations where they made bracelets or necklaces, colored, received temporary tattoos, picked out their very own crown, and selected a wand to complete their royal look. After the activities, the group moved outside where Haas read Beauty and the Beast—as the hum of excavators digging into the ground signaled progress on the library’s new addition, and several little princes and princesses found themselves momentarily mesmerized by the construction spectacle. The event wrapped up with cupcakes and juice, adding a sweet ending to a royally fun day.
