Next round of competition will see boys play winner of Black River Falls vs. Viroqua

Taking a first round bye in the playoffs, the Orioles boys will face whoever the winner of the Black River Falls vs. Viroqua game this Friday. Should the game be a win, the Orioles will play Saturday as well. Game time starts at 7 p.m.

With that said, the Orioles chalked up a loss and a win this past week in a two-game face-off, the first against Marathon, the second against Neillsville. Losing to Marathon with a final score of 80 – 59, the Orioles bounced back just days later to pick up a win against Neillsville 58 – 53. Coach Tom Hause shared his thoughts after the game set.

“We knew that Mason Roenz was going to be a tough match-up for us,” Coach Hause said. "He is 6'6," and 310 LBS." Nonetheless, there was a way forward.

“Brady and Henry did a nice job all night on him and came up with a few big stops down the stretch that allowed us to create some separation,” Hause shared. As to the game against Marathon, Coach Hause said that, “We did a great job working the ball inside in the first half against their zone. We had 26 points in the paint against their zone. We also did a better job on perimeter shot selection.”

Digging further into the game win against Neillsville, Brady Potaczek led the Orioles with 17 game points. Hause was followed in turn by Carsen Hause and Henry Hoel with 13 game points, while Lucas Smith scored 11 points. Landon Karlen scored four. Meeting the foul threat and keeping this in check vis a vis their opponents, the Orioles took just 14 fouls to 19 for Neillsville.

The Oriole game Friday, is at home.
