With varsity boys basketball to debut soon, Orioles Head Coach Dakota Nichols shared thoughts on the team and season as things look thus far.
“This will be a very competitive first two weeks of practice for the boys,” Nichols said. “We have a large number of kids that spent a lot of time preparing for the upcoming season, so it will be interesting to see who steps up and who is ready for the challenge. We lost a great group of seniors last year, who accounted for 80 percent of our total points. Despite that, I still feel confident in this years team due to a record number of kids playing basketball, competing in open gyms, and weight lifting. We have great size and speed, as well as a new senior class that has a winning mentality and excellent leadership skills. I’m very excited to start the season!”
The boys varsity basketball season starts Tuesday, Dec. 3 with a home game against St. Croix Central at Stanley-Boyd. Game start is 7:15 p.m.
