Cadott village board votes to have dog removed from the village

After biting a village employee and a Cadott police officer,

Mike and Kris Jahr were given 72 hours to have their dog removed from the village. After the village board heard pleas from the Jahr’s, and a review of the village ordinance that covers dog bites, the board voted to rescind the dog license issued to the Jahr’s. +++ With a total of $10,000 in donations from the Gene Haas Foundation, students in the Cornell School District machine tool program will have a chance to be chosen for scholarships. +++ With state shared revenues shrinking, or not increasing, the Cornell City council passed a resolution that calls on the Legislature to increase shared revenue. About 60 percent of Cornell’s city budget comes from shared revenue.

+++ The second Allis Fest Tractor Show was held on the Bill Harm farm on June 12 and 13. The event featured models from the earliest to the latest pieces of Allis-Chalmers machinery.

+++ On Wednesday, May 26, the Man2Man Band kicked off Cadott’s Music in the Park, sponsored by the Cadott Community Association, and made possible by community sponsors.

Due to lack of volunteers, the Thorp Area Historical Society and Telephone Museum is only open by appointment. With more volunteers, the museum could be open on a regular basis.

and employee break room included. AJ manufactures entry doors, vinyl windows and specialty doors. +++ Dirty Paws Patrol, a one stop shop for pet needs, is one of Bloomer’s newest businesses. The owner Tosha Reetz, a former law enforcement officer, has returned to her hometown and with some hard work

and ingenuity, her passion for pets has turned into a full-time job.

Tosha said that about 90% of her clients are dogs and 10% are cats. +++ A recent Sunday service at St Paul’s Catholic Church, honored eight graduates from their schools 8th grade and at St Paul’s Lutheran Church there were two graduates honored.

O-W Enterprise In a surprising twist, the Owen-Withee Police Committee did not accept the resignation of Police Chief Jesus Ibarra. It has been learned that the resignation came from the chief feeling there was a lack of communication between the police and the committee, and the feeling that there is not support for the police from the community. However, the chief says he, “…. personally needs to take a break.”

By a vote of 4-2, Abbotsford City Administrator Dan Grady was given a new three year contract. The vote came after a mayoral veto, two deadlocked council votes, and plenty of behind the scenes drama. Under the terms of the contract, Grady will be awarded a 2 percent raise retroactive to the beginning of this year, bringing his salary to $72,828. +++ Dorchester Village Board has voted to rezone two lots on the east side of Highway 13, to a commercial designation. Although it was not announced who intends to build on the lots, at its May 5 meeting, the village attorney was authorized to negotiate the sale of the land to Pac Knife Sales. +++ On June 2, Doctors Care held a groundbreaking for a new clinic in Abbotsford. The new clinic will be co-owned by Joan Hannula, M.D. and Jamie Baker, RN MSN. The new clinics goal is to provide high-quality medical care that is affordable and accessible. +++ The Abby Dairy Breakfast saw a record number of attendees, 1,700. +++ Curtiss Village Board is reconsidering a $20 million dollar upgrade to its sewer plant. They have decided to get a second opinion.
