Oriole golfer Carsen Woodcock competed in the Sectional at Hayward on June 4. Orioles Head Golf Coach Devon Wenndt shared thoughts after the results.
“Carsen played a round of golf that reflected his season scoring average,” he said. “Unfortunately, ‘average”’ often isn’t going to be quite good enough to make the state finals. We were both very happy with his play in general. He caught a couple of unlucky breaks on back to back holes (6 and 7) that resulted in some big numbers, and he wasn’t quite able to recover from those. He did have three birdies on the day, so the good play was definitely there. Sometimes, things just don’t go your way. He reflected that this was a wonderful learning experience for him, and that it will make him more driven to improve over the next year.”
