Warrant arrest follows FBI call

A Colorado man is in custody at the Chippewa County Jail, following the serving of a search warrant recently.
Norman Galindo, age 52 of Hartsel, Colorado, was taken into custody Friday, Oct. 24 in Boyd on a warrant arrest following contact of the Stanley Police Department by the FBI.
Assistance was provided in the arrest by the Stanley Police, Chippewa Sheriff’s Department, and Eau Claire County regional S.W.A.T. team.
Galindo appeared in Chippewa County Court on Monday Oct. 27, an affidavit for arrest warrant and Park County, Colorado warrant being presented.
Galindo was previously arrested Feb. 28, 2025 in Park County, Colorado for first degree assault and failure to appear, being released on a $2,000 cash/surety bond and $750 PR bond. First degree assault involves causing serious bodily injury to another person, described further in Title 18, Article 3, Part 2 of the 2024 Colorado Revised Statutes. The term “Failure to appear” refers to not appearing in court on a charge.
A phone message left with the FBI and seeking more information on the case was not returned as of press time.
Stanley Police Chief Lance Weiland explained more of what took place in making the warrant arrest.
“It started on Wednesday the 22nd,” Weiland said of the arrest. “We were contacted by an FBI agent looking to locate an individual with multiple warrants in Colorado.” Believed to be in Stanley at Sunset Homes, the contact resulted in obtaining a search warrant. Not present at the residence when sought at Sunset Homes, followup leads placed him in Boyd, with multiple law enforcement taking Galindo into custody there on Friday.
A bail/bond hearing and extradition hearing were both held Monday Oct. 27, the court ordering Galindo to be held without bond. Galindo was informed of his rights in a colloquy with the court and contested extradition.
The case is yet to be resolved, with Galindo remaining in custody at Chippewa County on an extradition hold as of Monday.
An extradition hearing is scheduled for later this month.
